Vintage Siam Silver Niello Men's Cufflinks

Beautiful vintage siam silver niello cufflinks.

Made from niello enamel and beautifully detailed with an elephant. This type of jewellery became popular in the west during the 1940's.

Service personnel, my uncle included, stationed in the Far East in the late 40's early 50's brought these delicate Siamese adornments as presents and keepsakes for their loved ones back home.

The images depicted in the jewellery are characters from Eastern legends and local traditional scenes. As well as being bold and beautiful, Siam Silver jewellery is collectable too; each piece was handmade by Master craftsmen, and no two pieces are the same.

The cufflinks are in very good condition. Each has 'made in siam' stamped on the back as well as 'sterling'.

One cufflink has been repaired on the back but it is a good repair and they are solid to use and wear and the repair is of course not visible when worn.

The are quite original and catch the eye.

I have also on offer a beautiful niello tie clasp with a simlar depiction. Also silver and in great condition. Both or either would make very elegant presents or great pieces for a collector.
